Critique Appertaining To Books Forest of the Pygmies (Memories of the Eagle and the Jaguar #3)

Forest of the Pygmies by Isabelle Allende was a great book. I really liked how at the beginning Alexander and Nadia went to a future teller and got a prophecy because I like books like this where the main characters feel that they have to live up to the prophecy. In this book the International Geographic team goes to Africa but they end up going to the Forest of the Pygmies. Sigh. I like Allende's other books but really dislike this series. All of my complaints about the second book apply to this one as well."Pygmies" isn't necessarily a pejorative term but it's not the most PC of terms she could have used. And when she's using "pygmies" rather than a specific ethnic group or some other more culturally sensitive term, it's harder to overlook her comparing the adults to children and comparing their children to dogs. LOL when I was in the middle of the book I notice this was the last book from a trilogy. I like how Isabel describes any situation in the book because you can really imagine the scene, but definitely it's not the type of books I like or choose to read.

Love it! Couldn't Isabel Allende write another, and another and another and another......Alexander and Nadia, or better yet, Jaguar and Eagle have truly lived a life. So full of adventure and thrill and excitement. Mysteries and battles. How do they always come out alive!!LOVE IT!!(The only thing I am in disagreement about is that the missionary is laughed at, and Catholicism is ofended.)

This is actually the last book to a trilogy - & it was interesting, but I also didn't understand several of the references, because they were talking about the previous book, but I can tell you that book one, City of the Beasts, was an amazing book. Forest of the Pygmies was good though, & the series is an interesting & different genre.

Great series although this last book was possibly not quite so exciting as the previous ones. But it was still very enjoyable. And it's challenging me to open my mind to things which don't fit into the scheme of my long-held beliefs.

It was mildly amusing but I suspect the African terrain described was more like the Amazon forest except for the forest animals. The pygmy names Nana Asante and Ipemba-Afua surprising since they are Akan names from West Africa.
