The Son (Divergent #0.3)
Fans of the Divergent series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth will be thrilled by "Four: The Son," the third of four stories, each between fifty and seventy-five pages long, set in the world of Divergent and told from Tobias's perspective.
In "The Son," Tobias struggles to find a place in the hierarchy of the Dauntless. He also begins to suspect that a foul plan may be brewing within the Dauntless leadership and discovers a truth about his past that could greatly affect his future.
It emphasises the importance of being in charge and calling the shots in your life. It reminded of something a friend of mine usually says: "you are the main character in your own story..."
So before I reviewed the last book/part I should have read this one first. I am so impressed by Veronica's writing ability. Everything that I wish was different because it was "boring" or "simple" had a purpose behind it and was explained in this book. Wow! She is a great writer and this book is very addictive. I like these books way more than 2nd and 3rd books in the trilogy.I love these novellas. I only watched the first 2 movies and read the last book. Four was such a whiny sissy in Allegiant. But I especially love him in The Son. He is quiet, brooding and I wouldn't call him a strong person. He is just someone who don't have a choice but to be strong for survival. One very important trait of him, he is a person who can think for himself. He even stressed the importance of it Max doesn't want someone like me, someone who can think for himself, develop his own
3 What I hate, What I love, What I fear ★'s Our city is changing...Sometime soon, everyone will have to choose a side Thats what I really wantto shed all the people who want to form and shape me, one by one, and learn instead to form and shape myself. You can be more than either, more than any faction. The Son was not nearly as good as the first two. It's my least favorite thus far. It was really slow, unexciting, and to be honest, it was very boring. But... it wasn't horrible either. This
I am not sure bravery is something you acquire more of with age, like wisdom- but maybe here, in Dauntless, bravery is the highest form of wisdom, the acknowledgement that life can and should be lived without fear. This quote is so beautiful! In the third story about Four - he enters a program to determine if he could be a future leader of Dauntless and not only that - he encounters a ghost from the past. Sorry Divergent fans....I'm not liking these novellas very much. They are not helping. Four is being stripped of all good and of any mystery. The additional info on Four isn't gelling with me. I think there are only 1 or 2 novellas of Roth's that I haven't read. I will finish them eventually to satisfy my OCD, but then I will be glad to put it to rest.
Really? Really Veronica ? Do you really think killing off the main female lead and STILL publishing the back story of the male lead is wise.... Do you really ?? Because, to be honest, I didnt really find Tobias very likable in Allegiant. I didn't and I'm sad about that but THAT IS THE BITTER TRUTH !!! Do you think you can still keep telling us how fascinating Tobias finds Tris ...??!! Wasn't it bad enough you KILL off the lead, but NOooOOoo !! You HAVE to rub it in our face saying, "HA HA,

Full review coming on my blog, the Snark Theater. And this was also completely pointless. We gained nothing, every single plot point was a rehash of what was introduced in the series, particularly in Insurgent. Unless you count "Shauna couldn't get it out that she liked Zeke" as new information, which, considering how secondary both of them are, I don't.This novella does, on the other hand, show that Tobias knew about Jeanine's plans that unfold in the climax of Divergent two years in advance. It emphasises the importance of being in charge and calling the shots in your life. It reminded of something a friend of mine usually says: "you are the main character in your own story..."
